| A high throughput dual processor
system with 1 GB ECC memory. This system uses an optimized and
hardened UNIX kernel operating system. The Domain Name System
used is BIND.
BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Domain) is an implementation of
the Domain Name System (DNS) protocol and provides an openly
redistributable reference implementation of the major components
of the Domain Name System, including:
 |
a Domain Name System server
(named) |
 |
a Domain Name System resolver library
|
 |
tools for verifying the proper operation
of the DNS server. |
The BIND DNS Server is used on the vast majority of Internet
servers providing a robust and stable architecture where an
organization's naming architecture can be built.
In addition to BIND, the PowerTechware™ DNS server includes
an easy to use management system for BIND and system administration.
It is suggested that two DNS servers be used: a primary DNS
and a secondary DNS as the backup for the primary. This is highly
recommended as DNS is mission critical to any organization with
internet access. |
